“Palette Knives Out!-The Creative Sequel”

Explore a different and fun way to paint!
This workshop is for beginners and the more experienced painters alike, or anyone who’s ever been curious about what to do with and how to handle that little instrument.
Working with a palette knife, a clumsy instrument compared to a pencil, can help you to be more free and expressive in your paintings….even if you use a brush.
Participants will practice and experiment with using a palette knife as a painting knife. Subject matter will include a landscape and a still life.
The workshop will be conducted in oil paint, preferred, but participants may use acrylic paints.
Materials provided:
2 canvas boards
Tabletop easels
Paper towels
Materials students will need to bring:
A metal palette knife (Not plastic…less control)
Medium such as Liquin
Brushes size 10 and 4
(to use in conjunction with the knife)
A sketchbook
Pencil/eraser
Solvent such as Gamsol to clean brushes
Lunch
Oil paints suggested:
Burnt Sienna
Cadmium Yellow
Yellow Ochre
Cadmium Red Medium
Ultramarine Blue
Sap Green
Burnt Umber
Titanium White
The cost of this workshop is $50 for IAA members and $65 for non members. The deadline to sign up is October 12th. No refunds are issued after this date. There is a maximum for this class, so reserve your seat early.
